Economic Highlights

Vietnam’s  real GDP picked up to a cumulative growth of 5.9% y-o-y in 3Q 2016, from +5.5% in both 2Q and 1Q, but slower compared with +6.5% in the corresponding period of 2015, on account of a rebound in agricultural activities from a decline, while manufacturing, construction and services activities picked up during the quarter.

Looking ahead, we envisage the country’s real GDP to grow by 6.0% in 2016, from +6.9% estimated previously and compared with +6.7% registered in 2015, premised on a more moderate increase in exports, while domestic demand softens.
