Thailand’s exports surged 6.5% y-o-y in August, rebounding strongly from a 6.4% fall the month before, partly
boosted by low base effect.
Industrial exports rose 9.0% y-o-y, from -0.4% the month before,
boosted by higher demand for vehicles, electronics and construction
materials. Things were further improved as agricultural shipments fell at a
slower pace compared to the month before.
We maintain our forecast for merchandise exports to slide 1.4%
in 2016, compared to -5.8% last year, anticipating
further improvement due to the low base effect in 4Q last year.
