Hong
Kong’s
unemployment rate remained unchanged for eight consecutive months in Oct 2016,
indicating labour market still remained tight. Better-than-expected economic
growth and gradual global economic recovery largely supported labour demand
in related sectors. As income growth was still on the rise, we believe HK’s
unemployment rate will remain stable in the near term. But in a longer term,
we see more pressure coming from external uncertainties and strong HKD.
