Foreign holding as a percentage of total local debt remained stable at 21.4% in September 2016. Percentage of foreign shareholding of MGS stood at 52.6% in September (51.5% in August).

Highlights of the report as follow:-

·         Foreign holding as a percentage of total local debt remained stable at 21.4% in September 2016. Percentage of foreign shareholding of MGS stood at 52.6% in September (51.5% in August).
·         Aided by the recent inclusion of 7- and 10-year MGII into JP Morgan’s GBI-EM Global Diversified bond index, there was a shift of foreign buying that pushed the value of foreign shareholding of MGII to RM27.2 billion in September – its highest holdings since January 2006 (11.6% of total MGII outstanding).
