Industrial
production picked up slightly to a growth of 4.5% y-o-y in May, from 4.0% in April
and compared with +7.1% in March. This was mainly reflected in the strong
surge in mining output, but was partly offset by a slowdown in the growth of
manufacturing and electricity output due to sluggish exports and softer
consumer spending following the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax
(GST) on 1 April.
