Earlier, investors
were concerned that a sharp drop in crude oil prices in late 2014 would send Malaysia’s
current account surplus into a deficit due to a collapse in commodity trade
surplus. We highlighted then that the risk of the current account falling
into a deficit is low, thought the surplus will likely narrow substantially
in 2015 due to a sharp drop in commodity surplus as a result offalling
prices.
