China’s economy has
stabilised recently, given support from the strong property market, solid
automobile sales, rising infrastructure spending and more approvals of PPP
projects. Still, we believe risk is skewed towards the downside in 2017,
given drags from supply-side reform, weakening property sales, booming debt,
slower credit expansion and growing external uncertainties. While liquidity
may tighten, the PBoC would stick to prudent monetary policies so as to curb
rising asset bubbles. The Central Government may still likely rely more on
targeted fiscal stimuli to support the economy.
