Singapore’s industrial
production declined 0.5% y-o-y in March, recovering partially from a 3.8%
fall the month before. The moderation in decline was driven by a return to
growth of the electronics clusters, while things were further improved as
biomedical manufacturing production surged 23.1% y-o-y, accelerating from a
6.0% gain the month before. Meanwhile, output in the chemicals cluster
slipped back into contraction, while precision and transport engineering
activities shrank at a faster pace than in February, thereby capping some of
the upside. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output decreased 5.5%
y-o-y in March, improving on
its -6.3% showing
the month before.
