¨ Industrial
production strengthened to 4.2% y-o-y in August, from a
revised +3.0% in July and +0.7% in June. This was due mainly to a rebound in
the electronics production and smaller drops in transport engineering and
general manufacturing production.
¨ A slowdown
in biomedical manufacturing, chemicals and precision engineering production,
however, offset part of the gain. The slower biomedical output, which is
usually volatile, was due to slower pharmaceutical production. For chemicals
and precision engineering production, it was due to slower growth on
petrochemicals and handling equipment.
