China’s
economy had a good start in 2017, with improving industrial production,
higher investment and resilient domestic consumption growth. But economic
stabilisation could be temporary, as the economy is still facing structural
problems, such as mounting leveraging, high debt levels, excess capacity, and
external uncertainties. Also, the restocking process could end in 2Q/3Q17. As
such, GDP growth is likely to peak in 1Q17 and will likely soften again in
2Q17 and 2H17.
