Thailand’s
consumer price index (CPI) dipped 0.5% y-o-y for the third consecutive month
in March, after falling 0.9% in 2015. Prices of non-food &
beverage items retreated at a slower pace of 1.2% y-o-y, compared
to -1.5% the month before, underpinned by
moderating declines in energy and transportation costs. However, the gains
were offset by softening prices inflation in the food & beverages sector,
whose growth eased to 1.0% y-o-y in March, from +1.3% a month earlier,
dragged by slower price inflation for vegetables & fruits. Meanwhile, Core
CPI, which excludes some items in the food and energy sectors, rose
0.7% y-o-y for the second consecutive month in March, following a 0.6%
gain at the start of the year.
