Economic Highlights

The Philippines’ merchandise exports slumped with a decline of 4.1% y-o-y in April, after growing by 2.1% in March and compared with -3.1% in February. This was due mainly to a contraction in the exports of agro-based products, mineral products and petroleum products; while the exports of manufactured products grew at a slower pace during the month. A rebound in the exports of forestry products, however, partly mitigated the drop.
