Luxembourg confirmed as leading Eurozone financial centre, second in the EU
Luxembourg consolidates its position as the Eurozone’s leading financial centre and second in the EU after London, according to the latest Global Financial Centres Index 21.
It thereby again outranks other EU financial centres such as Frankfurt, Dublin, Paris and Amsterdam. The Luxembourg financial centre was able to maintain its prominent position for the fourth consecutive year.


AIG chooses Luxembourg as its European hub outside the UK
American International Group, Inc. announced its plans to locate an insurance company in Luxembourg to ensure continued smooth operation of its business across the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland once the United Kingdom leaves the European Union.

Luxembourg is seventh in the world for English proficiency according to Education First, English proficiency Index 2017. Luxembourg’s multilingual environment makes it easy for companies to attract international talent and helps overseas employees to settle in and feel at home.

INDEX SERIES
The International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF), part of the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing, has partnered with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (LuxSE) to launch the CUFE-CNI Green Bond Index Series, the first Chinese Green Bond index to provide synchronous quotes between China and Europe.



PAYPAL SUPPORTS Luxembourg University CHAIR IN FINTECH
The National Research Fund (FNR) of the University of Luxembourg has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PayPal Europe for the creation of the FNR PEARL Chair in FinTech. The purpose of the new chair is to improve the link between users, regulators and industries.


FINTECH AWARDS OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS
The awards aim to unearth outstanding FinTech startups from around the world, and introduce them to potential new clients and funding opportunities in Luxembourg. Fifteen startups will then be selected to go through to the Competition Day in June. Applications can be submitted until 1 May 2017.

The second edition of FinTechStage Luxembourg, organised in cooperation with Luxembourg for Finance and Digital Luxembourg, once again brought some of the world's leading financial technology experts to Luxembourg to discuss emerging trends that will shape financial services.


AAA RATING FOR LUXEMBOURG CONFIRMED BY MOODY'S
Credit rating agency Moody's reaffirmed Luxembourg's Triple-A rating with a stable outlook.The country therefore continues to be placed among the few countries to enjoy the highest rating of the three biggest credit rating services S&P, Fitch and Moody's, as well as DBRS.
