The Philippines’ headline inflation was sustained at the
fastest pace in almost three years of 4.9% y-o-y in August, the same level as
in the previous month and compared with +4.4% in June. Despite coming in
slightly below the consensus’ and our estimate of 5.0%, August’s headline
figure, which remains elevated, continue to place pressure on the central
bank to resume monetary tightening measures for the coming meeting in 11
September.
