KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Competition Commission
(MyCC) on Wednesday issued a 'Proposed Decision' against the Cameron
Highlands Floriculturist Association (CHFA) for contravening Section 4
(2) of the Competition Act 2010 (CA2010).
The association has violated the act by engaging in an anti-competitive
agreement to increase the prices of flowers by 10 per cent, MyCC said
in a statement.
Under the proposed decision, which contained remedial actions, CHFA
shall cease and desist the infringing act of fixing prices of flowers
and shall provide an undertaking that its members shall refrain from any
anti-competitive practices.
"The CHFA shall issue a public statement on the aforementioned remedial actions in the mainstream newspapers," MyCC said.
"Once a decision is made by the MyCC under Section 40 of CA2010 and the
CHFA fails to comply according to the directions stated, a financial
penalty amounting to RM20,000 may be imposed," the commission said.
